Steward Your Marriage

♥ ♥ ♥ 31 days until Valentine’s Day! ♥ ♥ ♥

Biblically speaking, we do not own anything. We have been bought with a price and we are stewards over everything we are and everything we have.

You are not your own; you were bought at a price. 1 Corinthians 6:19b-20a NIV

From a marriage perspective that means we each need to take care of our self, our husband, and our marriage relationship as though we are stewards (someone who manages or looks after another’s property).

Steward Your Marriage - He is Lord of your marriage. Take care of it.

I always find that concept helps me calm down when there is a problem or just when I’m having a bad hair day. “Chill, Lori. God’s got this one. He’s in charge, just ask for wisdom, a bit of calm, and a hair brush.”

Take a little time to talk to God about this concept today. Ask Him to help you see Him as Lord of your marriage. Ask for His wisdom about how to take care of yourself, your husband, and your marriage?

  1. Thanks, Lori, for the fresh approach to an old theme with me. I came into my marriage knowing nothing about ADHD. (Unfortunately neither did my in-laws) But being married to it, you can’t ignore it and be happy, you can’t control it or negotiate with it. You have to live with it. Well, after banging my head against walls for the first dozen years I got smart. My heart was arrested when I read 1Corinthians 13 with my love for my husband in mind. I started praying! I ask for wisdom to live with this man. I ask to be made into a vessel of God’s love for him. Life has been different since then. It’s not all roses with no thorns. But when things get tense and distance creeps in between us I am reminded to refresh my prayers and lean a little more on the Lord’s arm for guidance. My most interesting observation is how drawing closer to God increases the love in my heart for my husband.
I have never thought about it in light of stewardship, but that is just how I see it. I am a steward of the love God gave me for this man I cherish and the relationship I share with him.
    Thanks again, well put! Diane
