What Bugs You?

My husband and I have taken to saying, “What you put up with is what you live with.”

It’s our way of saying, you need to address the things that bug you and the earlier you do so the better. Certainly some things are not that important and you can afford to overlook them in the spirit of kindness, but if something really bothers you, you need to talk it out or whatever it is will settle in and make a home in your home.

What Bugs You? - Address the things that bother you, the earlier the better.

If it involves your husband, find a good time when you are both rested and fed (don’t start a discussion when you’re hangry) and lay out the problem simply and as kindly as you know how.

Be willing to look for options and be a part of the solution. If you have ongoing disagreement, I encourage you to read The 3rd Alternative by Stephen R. Covey. It’s a great book on figuring out your real wants/needs and finding a workable solution.

Don’t live long term with a situation that is truly bothersome or hurtful.
