My favorite Christmas tradition doesn’t actually happen anymore. When my husband and I got married, we had very different ideas about what we wanted the tree to look like. We compromised by taking turns decorating each year. (He likes lots of colored lights and crazy ornaments. I like white lights and red bows and nothing else.) After we were blessed with children, they, too, like lots of colored lights and crazy ornaments, so that’s what we do. There will be time to return to simple decorations when they’re older. :)

We drag the mattresses into our loft/playroom and all sleep together on the night before Christmas. It’s SO fun!

My favorite Christmas tradition was started when I was a child by my parents. My husband and I have followed it with our sons, and still do, even though they are both teens. :)

Rather than stuff the stockings for Christmas morning when there are so many other gifts, any time in December (after the stockings are hung), we can wake up to a surprise gift in our stockings. We do it several times, and usually use small, fun gifts (so it’s not too expensive).

Especially when the kids are young, it really makes the whole month fun, and helps the waiting to be a little easier. :)

We like to find a new way to celebrate the Advent Season every year. This year we have added several new ways to share with others, including bringing gifts to the local animal shelter, donating to the food bank, and inviting our elder neighbors to Christmas dinner.

My favorite family tradition is getting together and hearing my husband read Luke 2.

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is to go to my daughter’s Christmas choir program. It’s a lovely program with children of different ages singing a variety of Christmas carols.

One of our Christmas traditions is to have a Christmas Eve Box. We usually put in the box new pj’s a new Christmas Movie, popcorn and hot cocoa. After we attend Christmas Eve service, we have a nice evening together. Before bed, my father usually reads us Luke 2. My husband, kids, and I spend the night at my parents house on Christmas Eve.
