in the generous life

From The Generous Wife archive:

What vitamins or supplements does your husband take? Make sure he is well supplied.

(It’s a good idea to go through your medicines as well. Keep the basic over-the-counter medications handy. Remove any that have expired.)

Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.  Jim Rohn

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” – Hippocrates

I think if you need supplements, then your diet needs to be addressed…not your medicine cabinet. Just my two cents.

And if you do decide to take supplements, get educated on them. A lot of the ones available over the counter don’t come in a bioavailable form (your body can’t process them). One example is calcium. If you aren’t getting enough magnesium, you can eat a truck of calcium, and it won’t go anywhere, because you need magnesium in order to process calcium.

Anyways, before I start ranting about nutrition, I think I’ll stop there and simply say don’t go buying supplements without understanding what your actual needs are and how the supplement is actually going to help, as opposed to simply eating healthier food.
