Gracious Grace

in the generous life

God’s been talking to me about grace.

Since I was quite young, I’ve known Jesus died for my sins, I’m His kid, He loves me, etc., but lately God’s been showing me what a bad place I was in, how only He could fix that and how absolutely complete His work was on the cross.

It’s pretty humbling and … well, a relief. It’s so great to know I am forgiven and I have a place of security in Him. I don’t have to perform perfectly (can’t really) to earn His love or a place in His kingdom.

I just sat there the other day, resting in that sweet security and being so grateful that, in my imperfection and inability, He can do something with my life. And, just because my brain works that way, I had to include my husband in this picture. He’s forgiven too and God is working in and through his imperfection and inability. It makes it easier to forgive my man or serve him or offer him a bit of grace for the journey.

I suspect God thinks He’s funny. My word for the year is gracious and He totally hit me with a grace bomb.

God reminds us again and again that things between He and us are forever fixed. They are the rendezvous points where God declares to us concretely that the debt has been paid, the ledger put away, and that everything we need, in Christ we already possess. This re-convincing produces humility, because we realize that our needs are fulfilled. We don’t have to worry about ourselves anymore. This in turn frees us to stop looking out for what we think we need and liberates us to love our neighbor by looking out for what they need.  Tullian Tchividjian

Wow. I need to print this out and hang it up as a reminder. I have been doing a 30 day study on Gods love and this sums it up perfectly. I am not sure which speaks to me more. Your words or the picture you used. Precious.
