Table Talk

in the generous life

It pays to read the comments.  :)

I was skimming the comments for the Good Food + a Contest post and saw this delightful dinner time idea from a generous wife. (thanks, Tammy V!)

… we often go around and share 1 good thing and 1 bad thing about our day (or 2 good things, but never allowed 2 bad things).

This is a great connector at the dinner table. It’s short, so no one feels they have to take on a huge conversation, and it’s personal so you get some connection. It’s also fairly positive with a bit of empathy for those struggling with a bad event.

Share on gals. (Do share your meal ideas ->> here <<- to win a Loaded Baked Potato Dip Mix (or the dip mix of your choice) from Heavenly Special Teas.)

A similar exercise we do at our table is about focusing on the positive (even when something is negative). We ask 2 questions:

1. What went well?
2. What did you learn?

I love those questions. Very positive and they open the door to great discussion.

What do you say about the whole contraception issue versus God’s will?

I’d say that it’s probably not a good topic for the dinner table. ;)

Personally I don’t think it’s a “vs.” issue. I think each couple should be prayerful and educated and make the best choice for their marriage.
