3 Books for 2014

December 27, 2013

in the generous life

Seth Godin had an interesting post about the impact of books on relationships. He talked about giving three books to a small group of folks that have influence in your life. Think of the amazing conversations you might have and how you would influence each other over the coming year.

The Generous Wives are far bigger than a small group, but, oh, how I wish I could give y’all three books to impact your lives and any interaction that we might have.

Second best is recommending these books for 2014. These three books have made me laugh, made me cry and generally wrecked all or part of my life in the most profound of ways.

Love Does by Bob Goff (paperback or Kindle)
Grace Filled Marriage
by Tim & Darcy Kimmel (hardback or Kindle)
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality
by Peter Scazzero (paperback or Kindle)
The Kindle version of EHS is on sale for $2.99 thru January 3rd

Who would be a part of your “small group”? What three books would you choose?

The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it.   James Bryce

My sister gave me a copy of “Love Does” for my birthday back in October. Absolutely amazing book! That book, along with a few other things God has put on my heart, has me focused on learning to love well this coming year.

I just got a new nook from my husband this Christmas, which makes reading much more fun that on my ereader app on my little phone. :) I’ll have to bookmark these books! I’m currently reading Boundaries and 31 Days to Clean. :) Happy New Year!

My husband and I listened to the Audio Book version of Love Does last year during our Christmas traveling in the car. We LOVED the book and loved that we could share in the listening together :). Currently I’m reading “I Used to Be So Organized” by Glynnis Whitwer. I’m enjoying that but wish it was available in an audio version as well :)

Love this concept! I read the Scazzero book back in January and enjoyed it. My 3 would be
1. The Peace Maker by Ken Sande
2. Becoming a Woman of Influence by Carol Kent
3. Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas (or Captivating by Staci Eldridge if you are a single gal.)
