Save a Few Pennies

November 15, 2013

in the generous life

I recommend a fair number of books. I’m into learning and books can be an amazing source of information and encouragement.

However, books can be expensive.

So today I made a trip to the library.

It’s been awhile and I took my time browsing the old and new. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of marriage books. I found several that are in my Marriage Book Library. Please understand that I live in a small town (around 3,400) in Washington state so this is fairly impressive.

I’m also trying to get a lending library at church going and I’ve been known to borrow and lend books. Kindle editions are usually a little cheaper as well, though it’s a bit trickier to lend.

Don’t let the cost of books stall you out. Search out a few creative options.

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.  Charles W. Eliot

I LOVE my library. Also, for those in small (or larger) towns and who own an ereader, you might see if your library has an electronic catalog. Many libraries now have access to a range of titles they don’t have the space to carry on-site, and you can check these books out to your ereader with your library card number. Audio books are also available this way as well.

Thanks for mentioning that. My little library is linked into the county’s system, so I can order books from a larger pool of libraries and we do have some ebooks as well.
