The Enemy’s Gate is Down

in the generous life

My husband and I just saw the movie Ender’s Game. It is a great movie with amazing special effects. If you’re into Sci-Fi it’s something you definitely want to see. (if you can’t see the trailer, go here)

The interesting thing about shared experiences is that it gives you a common “language.” You have phrases or word pictures that now mean the same thing to you and your husband. Your communication can have greater clarity and nuance.

After the movie Paul and I talked about what stood out to us, about leadership, about having understanding and empathy for an enemy.

The next time you watch a TV show, see a movie or listen to teaching together, talk about what you have learned and what stood out to you. Improve your common language.

The enemy’s gate is down. Ender Wiggins

My daughter just read this book about 4 months ago, she was so excited to see a movie released for it. It’s first publication was 1977.

Saw it this weekend. Pales in comparison to the book, but still a great movie. I hope they continue with the other books in the series.

I’ve only read the first book in the series. I’ll be heading off to the library to get the rest now.
