First Thing in the AM

in the generous life

Lately I’ve been waking up, rolling over, and praying right out loud. I don’t pray long or fancy, just a few simple sentences to start the day. Sometimes Paul prays too, sometimes not.

It’s not hard. It takes just a few minutes. It has amazing results.

We’re looking to and listening to God. We’re more interested in what He wants. We start our day with a calm and an assurance.

Try it some morning.

(If you’re married to an nonbeliever, you might ask if they are comfortable just holding you while you pray.  If they’re not comfortable, then respect that.  Perhaps get a prayer partner and make your spouse an ongoing prayer issue.)

Ten minutes spent in the presence of Christ every day, aye, two minutes, will make the whole day different.  Henry Drummond

any suggestions for the opposite shift couples who seldom wake up at the same time?

Paul and I used to live different shifts. Basically when anyone was waking up or going to sleep we would snuggle up together in bed ~ for talk, prayer, snuggle, making love, etc. Yes, it can be tough to put your day on hold to make that time, but it pays well where your marriage is concerned.

The other thing is to be very intentional about making time for each other when you are both awake.
