Regular Care

October 11, 2013

in the generous life

Well, I finally got busy with fall clean up in my cottage garden.

I had not done serious clean up in quite some time and things were overgrown. Many plants needed dividing. Small plants that had come up from seed needed to be moved. Others I took out all together.  Lots of pruning, weeding and general cleanup.

As I work in the garden I see so many parallels to upkeep on my marriage.

When you don’t stay current on upkeep life can take over. Some of those things are good, but too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad. You may need to reduce involvements, move them or remove them. Sometimes you really need to dig in and remove the root of a problem.

It’s an ongoing project that needs regular care – the garden and my marriage.
