Navigating Those Choices

August 15, 2013

in the generous life

Yesterday I talked about creating “marriage friendly” plans for autumn and winter (typically a busier season). That’s really a tall order. There are so many people and needs vying for our attention.

It’s easy to get into tussles with your sweetie over those choices.

One of the best resources I know of for dealing with conflicts is a book called The 3rd Alternative.

Finding alternatives that meet the needs of both of you can be done. It just takes a bit of digging around and looking for options. I encourage you to pick up a copy if you find yourself at odds with your husband over school and holiday choices.

Win-win is a belief in the 3rd alternative. It’s not your way or my way: it’s a better way.  Stephen Covey, author of The 3rd Alternative

I will have to check out this resource! I am currently reading “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families” by Stephen Covey and it is excellent.

Yes, that’s another great book by Covey.
