Praying God’s Word for Your Husband

June 4, 2013

in the generous life

I don’t know about y’all, but sometimes I want to pray for my husband and I don’t know where to start or what to ask for.

Kathi Lipp has written a great resource that can help ~ Praying God’s Word for Your Husband. I was amazed at the lovely prayers she creates from scripture.

Here’s one example over finances:

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.  Ps. 29:11  NIV

I am asking today, dear Lord, for you to fill my husband with your peace concerning our finances. Give him the wisdom and strength to follow through on and solve the issues surrounding us right now. Show him the direction we need to go, and fill him with the peace of knowing that you will take good care of us, your children.

There are chapters on his employment, his thought life, your marriage relationship, parenting, praying for an unbelieving husband and more.

It’s a great place to start and a great tool that can teach you how to personalize scripture.

Yes!! I agree and sometimes that’s simply the best way to pray for anyone. I used to pray that way for my husband-to-be that way (even when I didn’t know who he would be yet) in example: “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

16 That he would grant you {insert his name here and change the tense}, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; … etc” this is found in Ephesians 3:14 – 21 and is a very lovely prayer to pray (I don’t know if the lady you are talking about mentions this passage so sorry if it is a repeat ~ I don’t have time yet this morning to read her article or blag post…) Anyway, its a good reminder to keep it up and keep even our praying for our husbands fresh! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this resource! I discovered Stormie O’Martian’s book “The Power of a Praying Wife” a few years ago. I was amazed at the richness of her prayers! They were just the perfect words to say for my husband. I try to go through it at least one month a year. I order the “…..Praying Wife” and “…Praying Husband” books in bulk and give them as wedding gifts.
