Today is Resurrection Sunday, the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
I don’t know about y’all, but holidays can be a bit exhausting. There are any number of expectations to be met. (Are the eggs hidden well? Is the ham done? Will Greg hear the gospel message and accept? Got to make sure it all goes well.)
I think sometimes we just need to stop.
Stop with our own expectations and let God be in charge of the day. Let His expectations rule. It is His day after all.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with cooking a ham (I actually like ham) or praying for the salvation of a friend, but you don’t want to make the day about specific expectations so much as you want to make it a day to love. Love on your family. Love on your friends (and whoever comes your way). Love on yourself (it’s OK to take a nap).
Love on Him.
What does that look like? I suppose it would be different from person to person. Sing a worship song. Serve others. Spend quiet time in your backyard. Why not take some time and enjoy the holiday with Him, however that looks for you.
And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27 ESV
