Valentine Meal

in the generous life

♥ ♥ ♥ 31 days to Valentine’s Day! ♥ ♥ ♥

Give some thought to a special meal for Valentine’s Day.

February 14th is a Thursday, so it’s a work day for most (though you could celebrate on another day). You could cook something up special, get take out or dine out. You could eat your favorites or try something new. You could share breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or you could just do dessert out (or in). Try an indoor picnic, an elegant dinner or grill up some steaks (if you live where it’s warm right now).

On Pinterest I saw a soup that had little heart shaped carrots in it. You could also bake up some heart shaped cookies.

There is plenty of time for planning and there are truckloads of ideas online. What can you do to make your Valentine meal special?

Baking cookies is comforting, and cookies are the sweetest little bit of comfort food.  Sandra Lee

Thanks for getting the ball rolling in my thoughts. Budget is tight, so creativity is certainly on the menu! I saw those heart shaped carrots, too – I definitely want to try those :)

You can make a heart shaped cake, even if you don’t have a heart shaped pan by making a square and a round layer cake. Cut the round in half down the diameter. Turn the square so it looks like a diamond shape. Put half of the round on each top side of the diamond.
There is a picture at Bettycrocker.com search for Sweet Heart Cake and then when on that page scroll down passed the directions and there is a diagram. (Something is wrong with my computer today and I cannot seem to copy and paste.)

I absolutely love those heart-shaped carrots! They will be appearing in a pot of stew here. And thanks for explaining how to make the heart-shaped cake. I have square and round pans, so I can do this.
