Fresh Start

January 3, 2013

in the generous life

Give your New Year a fresh start by forgiving your husband.

Settle in a quiet spot and go over your relationship in your mind.

When you wince, take a moment and forgive. Hand it over to God and ask Him to work in that difficult spot.

(If you are in an abusive relationship, get safe and get help. If you have problems you can’t seem to work out between the two of you, get third party help.)

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.  Mark 11:25  NIV

A good reminder. Sometimes the “big” things – obvious offenses- seem easier to forgive. I think because we can’t ignore them so tend to give them the attention they need. But the little things that slide by us and build up like soap scum on a sink…it takes a bit of work to get past the resentment that builds up around our heart. A time away to think through and choose to forgive is a great way to start the new year. It’s also a good time to think about anything you need to go to your husband and ask his forgiveness for.
