The Cure

December 24, 2012

in the generous life

Today is Christmas Eve and, honestly, it’s hard to navigate most holidays. With everyone’s expectations and much to do, it’s easy to lose sight of the important things and spend your day frustrated.

The cure?

Take on a servant mentality.

Now that is not what most people think it is.

It’s not about thinking that you are a nobody or that you’re not worth anything. It’s not about ignoring your own needs or only doing what other people tell you to do.

It’s about being like Jesus and loving others, caring about their needs and meeting them where they are.

Slow down and listen to the people around you. Help your child wrap a gift (at their speed). Drag your sweetie off to the bedroom. Help your mother-in-law with dinner and make the sweet potatoes (her way).

Look at those around you through His eyes and make the day (and tomorrow too!) about serving others. God will take care of you, while you are taking care of others.  :)

… the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve …  Matthew 20:28a  NIV
