Three in the Morning

October 28, 2012

in the generous life

Lately I’ve been waking up tense. My eyes open and the needs of the day come crashing in.

Well, I don’t want to live that way, so I started praying about it and somehow came up with the idea of telling God three things I’m grateful for the minute I can focus my fuzzy morning mind (when I can, I share with my sweetie too!).

Some mornings I only have a minute or two before starting my day, but listing three things is quick and easy. For those mornings that I have more time, it’s amazing the things that come to mind and, well, the Lord will just have to put up with more than three.

This morning the Lord asked me for three things that I wanted from him. That one got away from me a bit too.

If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness.  It will change your life mightily.  Gerald Good

I used to get so frustrated when I would wake up in the middle of the night. I even pleaded with God telling him that I needed my sleep to get through the upcoming day. Then I decided to use those wee morning wake up calls to pray. I prayed for whoever God laid on my heart and realized that God woke me up in the middle of the night because I was so distracted during the rest of the day. He had my undivided attention at 3 a.m. and I knew, that if he was the one to wake me up at 3 a.m., He would also be the one to give me the strength to get through the day without that sleep. And He has.
