Celebrate the Ones You Love

August 30, 2012

in the generous life

When you celebrate, you are giving value to something. Why not let that “something” be the people you love (and frequently let that be your husband).

Celebrate good grades, a day off, a letter of recommendation, learning to do a particular skill, or the anniversary of finishing the backyard landscaping (I think that calls for running through the sprinkler a few times). You don’t have to be financially extravagant about it. Chocolate chips cookies with do. Hang a small handmade banner. Fix their favorite meal or have movie night with their favorite movie.

Just take the time to point out victories, milestones and any special occasion.

Cultivate more joy by arranging your life so that more joy will be likely. George Witkin

PERFECT! We actually just had a surprise celebration for my mom last night … she completed all of her breast cancer treatment so we CELEBRATED HER! It was wonderful!
