in the generous life

From The Generous Wife archive:

The next time your husband compliments you, take a deep breath, smile and say, “thank you.”  Just, “thank you.”  Nothing more.  Don’t follow up with reasons why you are not perfect or why whatever it is you are being complimented over is not quite perfect, or whatever.

It’s deeply important to your husband that you receive his compliments graciously.  Even if you disagree with him, he is telling you what he feels and thinks.  Respect his perspective and say, “thank you.”  (Bite your tongue if you have to!)

I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks.  William Shakespeare

WOW!!! I am SO very guilty of this! I will make it a point to simply say Thank You next time :)

I’m so guilty of this! I’m trying to get in the habit of just accepting my husband’s compliments. I found that giving him a big ol’ kiss helps with this! :)
