What Brings Him Joy?

May 15, 2012

in the generous life

Yesterday my husband and I finished out a strawberry tower. At one point I sat in a chair to take a rest. I watched as he mixed soil, compost and some peat moss with his hands. He was hot and dirty and he had the most contented expression on his face.

I had to smile. Playing in the dirt is one of those things that seems to give my husband a sense of balance and enjoyment. He’s not happy if he doesn’t have a garden or some project in the yard.

I’m like that too, but with creative stuff. I need to have a crochet hook in my hand or a bit of felt or some glue. Without that creativity, my world starts to grow grey.

Do you know what brings balance and enjoyment to your sweetie’s world? To yours? Make sure there is room for those things in your lives.

Do the things you love. Diego Serna

Here’s a Pinterest picture of a strawberry tower. Ours is a bit wider and shorter, but it holds a truckload of strawberry plants. I’m looking forward to fresh strawberries and some strawberry jam!

Do Not Disturb has a wonderful post on The Fun Theory: Bedroom Edition Loved the video, loved the suggestions.

I just like this one ~ If I’m not ok, will you offer me your loaves and fish? (from Too Darn Happy)

I recently did something like this too and was able to enjoy him enjoying something that makes him come alive. I love being aware of it. The daily grind can really distract you and make you forget. Gotta fight for it. Gotta choose it.

I’m planning my very small strawberry tower too. The weather is almost right here in southern Ontario, Canada. Thank you for sharing your post on NOBH!
