Today is Ladybug Day!

in the generous life

ladybug mintYes, it really is Ladybug Day and I like ladybugs! When I’m working in the garden, I always smile when I come across one of these little hardworking bits of color.

What does this have to do with marriage?

All my idiosyncrasies make up the package that is me, the same for my sweetie (and you and yours). That’s part of the delight of being married to a unique individual. It’s true that not all idiosyncrasies are easy to live with, but most can be made into something positive and enjoyed.

My husband loves to make spur of the moment choices (I am a planner). We have had some amazing adventures because he wanted to “see where this road goes” or “what they sell in that store.” I’ve learned to work with his nature and enjoy the ride. My life is more colorful and interesting because of his idiosyncrasies.

Take a moment and look for the joy in your spouse’s uniqueness.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.   Dr. Seuss
