Read the Book

in the generous life

As a response to yesterday’s post (God in You), a generous wife named Bridget made this comment:

Thank you so much for this post. I have watched my husband get door after door closed in his face because he doesn’t look like what people want or because of his past. I was just beginning to wonder what’s the point in him going forward but then I got this email. My hope has been rekindled a little today because of this.

A few thoughts ~

People have great value.

Even though most folks may look at a person’s “cover” and dismiss them, there are still wise people who will take the time to “read the book” and find their value.

As people we need to appreciate our own value.

As wives we need to appreciate our husband’s value and become his biggest fan and greatest encourager.

I’m delighted that Bridget is in a better space to encourage and walk with her man.

The young man in the video would not have been on the stage at all if not for the encouragement and support of Charlotte. The world is richer for hearing her lovely voice (I may shoot Simon) and for her encouragement that allowed Jonathan to shine. I pray that both of their lives are changed for the good and that many others will learn from this lesson and be changed as well.

Prayer Request: please pray for Bridget’s husband who needs a job as a Worship Leader and, while we’re at it, pray for all the folks represented by this list who could use a new job or a different job. God cares about those kind of things. Really.

Don’t be afraid to be amazing.  Andy Offutt Irwin (I know I just used this quote a few days ago, but I like it, so y’all get it again.)

I just wanted to offer her a word of encouragement. The worship leader at my former church (almost 3000 members) has a very colorful past. I also think that because he has been forgiven of much, his worship is so powerful. There are churches that want him.

Bridgett don’t give up and don’t let your husband give up. The job will come when God is ready for him to the get the job that God wants him to have. We all have faults and doubts but who are we to judge. Those who closed the doors will be the ones wishing that they had let your husband come in. He will blossom somewhere. I keep saying I need to find another job. But each year I am back waiting for those smiling little five year olds to come to school. It’s my passion. And I agree I wanted to shoot, kick, knock out and some more stuff to Simon. How dare he. Those two compliment each other. When he started singing I cried. When both sang together I just lifted my arms and said on my God. I hope the two of them find much success. And Bridgett I will be praying for you and your husband. You can’t judge that book by its cover. Happy day to all.
