A Moment With God

February 26, 2012

in the generous life

I’ve been reading a devotional by Andrew Murray. (aff link) I really like devotionals.  I know some think its a dumb down, but I like the daily nudge of a message and scripture.  It gives me something to mull over when I have bits of time in my day.  It also gives God a moment to grab my attention, teach me something or just get me to quiet down and hang out with Him.

I encourage y’all to consider a devotional as a part of your day.  If you’re husband is willing to read it with you, that’s a plus, but if not, no big deal, just share what you are reading and learning with him as conversation allows.  It’s couple time and it gives you the opportunity to share ideas (relational and intellectual intimacy, perhaps a bit of spiritual intimacy too).

Crosswalk offers a number of daily and weekly devotionals by email.

I love the tea analogy in this blog post devotional ~ Overcoming Our Thoughts is Like Brewing Tea  Apply it to all of life, but especially to your marriage. (from Spiritually Unequal Marriage)

I love devotionals! I do my own during my daily time with God but me and my hubby for last year have been doing a couple devotional. It has been great, some of the questions can put you in an uncomfortable spot but that is how you grow. I agree devotionals are great to ponder on! :)

I totally love my daily time with God!!! I think it is a personal need and my parents did a family devotional time with us growing up and my parents at ages 70/68 still to this day have a special morning time devotional.
Thanks for all of the encouragement and inspiration you give to us each day!

God bless you!

I love devos, Lori, and have due them for years along with a Bible in a year reading plan. Loved reading your story too. What a precious testimony! And thank you for mentioning my post. Hugs!
