Be Generous, Be Happy

December 14, 2011

in the generous life

Woo-Hoo!  I knew it!  Generosity makes for happier marriages.  I knew it!  I knew it!  [high fives all around]

Check out Lori Lowe’s newest blog post – Want a Happier Marriage? Be Generous (from Marriage Gems)

A recent study, part of the National Marriage Project, surveyed more than 1,400 couples between the ages of 18 and 46 … Researchers found couples who said they had a high amount of marital generosity were five times more likely to have “very happy” marriages. (emphasis mine)

Doing the happy dance and hoping that each of you becomes sincerely infected with the “generosity virus” this winter. Spread it around!

That’s really interesting–and hardly surprising! But it’s always fun to actually see the data.

When we get our eyes off of ourselves, and stop asking, “is he making me happy?”, and start asking, “how can I love him best?”, our marriages thrive. It’s as simple as that!

My post today goes along with this theme, although with a sex bent: It’s not all about you.

Thanks for all the great links, Lori!
