Gift List

December 8, 2011

in the generous life

If you haven’t done this already, make a list of a few gift ideas that your husband and/or kids can use when Christmas shopping for you.

(It will save their sanity and you might get something that you want or need under the tree).

A brilliant idea for blessing your neighbors – Nativity Experience (from Then She Made …) I’m sharing this a bit early so you have time to make plans for next year.  Plus the follow up Q&A.  If you don’t feel handy enough to make your own nativity, here’s one from Amazon with 12 figures – Fisher-Price Nativity Scene Playset.(aff link)   I also think it would just be fun to do with your own family (sort of a year long advent season).

A challenging challenge – Men Who Don’t Vacuum (from Assume Love)

I have done this for about 6 years now, and even friends will call my hubby to find out what is on the list. :-) It makes life SO much easier on everyone. I have the list on the side of the fridge all year long, and put things on there as I think of them. That way I’m not under the gun when the occasion comes. It works for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, and just because days. There are items in all kinds of prices so that a variety is available. And, YES, I get the kinds of things I really WANT and never return. :-)

My hubby and I both do this for each other but I’ve gotta brag on my hubby this year. This year is pretty much the first year we have had enough money to get each other presents in our 13 years together so we are both really excited and happy about it. Well yesterday he went to my moms to wrap one of my presents and then brought it back to put under the tree and he did an awesome job wrapping it! This may sound dumb to brag on but I am a pretty big stickler when it comes to wrapping presents I like them to be over the top and the paper has to match the tree, while my husband could careless about any of this and hates wrapping presents and usually just rushes through it. He went and bought wrapping paper, ribbon and bows for my present and it looks so good! He was proud of himself too he came and was like look at that, lol! Its a small thing that I wouldn’t have ever said anything about had he not stuck to my little “rules” but he knows me and knows that I love the way the tree looks with matching beautifully wrapped presents under it, so he took the extra time with it and I love him a little more for it.
