Coupon Ideas Contest

December 6, 2011

in the generous life

A generous wife suggested: (thanks, Alisa!)

free gift idea – Let your husband remove 5 items from your closet/drawers that he does not like.

That sparked a contest idea.  I think Alisa’s tip (or something similar) would work as a great coupon idea.  Coupons make wonder gifts.  They’re small and something that can be personalized.  They can be tucked in a card or a stocking.  You can offer services or preferences and more.  You are only limited by your imagination.

That’s where this generous list comes in and the contest …

Let’s share our coupon giving ideas.  Please leave, as a comment to this post, ideas for coupons and for creative ways of giving or packaging coupons.  My husband will pick a number on December 18th and the person who posted in that spot will win …

19 days ’til Christmas!

You could tuck them into envelopes marked 1 through 12 and hang them on the Christmas tree as an alternative advent calendar… :)
And clearly that would be a ’12 Days of Christmas’ calendar instead of an advent calendar!

As for a coupon idea… for my hubby it would be: a month of long Saturday walks in the park, a date night watching a ‘boy movie’ instead of a ‘girl movie’, and washing up as well as cooking dinner (I always cook, he washes up).

Let see ideas: Coupon for back rub, shoulder massage, a day of lounging (afterwork, he puts his comfys on and just vegges on the couch, I will make, serve, clean up dinner, get all littles ready for bed, he can just relax…) treat out to restaurant ( I take care of sitter, etc) coupon for fave meal to be made, fave dessert to be made, watch a movie of his choice together (I am very bad at watching movies, must multi-task & we don’t share the same interests in movies, so this would be big to him), night off (out with friends etc), Grant of 3 wishes (be careful :o, Do-Over, (reclaim one coupon already used), family night (chose the movie/game/food for family night), Cuddle session, Breakfast in Bed,

Well thats all I can come up with so far…need to think some more as this is on my list for this Christmas…

Oh yeah, how about a guy date? ( doing all those guy things, going to look at Tools, Cars, Guy fried food, Sports, what ever your Man is in too!)

I like to hide them so he finds them throughout his work day/week (in his pillow case, wound up in a scroll around his toothbrush, in the lid of something he uses frequently, his truck console, wallet, in his boot, a pocket…. little surprises are fun.

Oh the fun things that you can do….well, I like to make them into scrappy little ornaments. Hang them up the night before Christmas (or the morning of if you are married to an insomniac like me!). Each “tag” is a gift– 30 minute back rub, 30 minute back rub with elbow grease (intense), taking out the trash for a week, doing his wash, taking him to dinner and a movie (my hubs love language!), a new cd of his choice….Mine are usually servant gifts because of our budget and service is my language, but since my hubs is a gifts guy and a physical touch guy, it’s important that I work those in, too. So— a long soak in the bath with a foot rub, a back washing, and a really good hair washing with scalp scrubbing (our bath is VERY small)is definitely a gift to him….and as a bonus, a couple cute, scrappy boxes with some bite sized versions of his favorite treats inside. =)

Maybe there could be a coupon for him to pick the next few movies! :) Or that I make the dinner and dessert of his choice! :)

I recently received a box of I O U Oral sex pop open cards as a gift. (like bible promise card style). There are 21 for her and 21 for him with suggestions inside as to where and how etc. I think just taking the cover alone which says I O U Oral sex or creating your own hand made ones would be just a good. What a great stocking stuffer, pillow top or lunch box surprise. The possibilities are endless. The suggestion from my friend was to use them as payment for “honey do” favors around the house. Need the garage cleaned, room painted, or Carpentry done??? Pay with these cards and it works like magic!! Maybe he wants his favorite pie baked or his laundry done.. now He owes you! Your house could be the best looking on the block!

A coupon for his favorite meal since he usually only gets it on his birthday! A coupon for a massage. Sex. Some kind of activity he likes. Dessert.

I found an idea on FlyLady to give my hubby a coupon for 12 pies of his choice throughout the year. I plan to make the coupon itself a picture of a pie with 12 “slices” to hole punch as he “cashes in” his coupon. He LOVES pie. I can bake. And yet for whatever reason I never think to make pie. :-P

A coupon for a “Yes Day” – You have to say yes to any and all suggestions, activities, and requests (within reason). It’s a chance for your spouse to have a day completely go their way and who wouldn’t want that?

I think my husband would enjoy an “I’ll leave the baby with my mom” coupon. My youngest is ten months old, and we have never been out without her. I feel bad about asking my mom to watch all the kids, and the baby is still nursing, so when we leave the other kids with my mom, we take her with us because it is just easier. I think my husband would appreciate a chance to get out just the two of us.

A coupon for a NFL (NHL, NBA, etc) night. You’ll do all the preparing for a Monday night football party for him and a group of his friends at your house.

I actually got this idea from my devotional this morning, and I thought it was a great idea. Write a little poem or a letter telling your husband you will pray for him every day for the next year and that you love him unconditionally. That would be 360 days of knowing he is being prayed for.

*** Do-Over! (if you give them a booklet they can reclaim any coupon they’ve already used) ***

I love having the bed made and placing things on his pillow for him to find!! :)

Before you tie the knot on the balloons stick the rolled up coupon in there. Then you can lay them over your bed or tape them to the mirror… You can even write a little scandalous note saying how you want to jingle his bells later today… Just have fun with it!!!

I think my husband’s favorite coupon would be a day off from any household chores. No dishes, no cooking, no vacuuming, mopping, or taking out trash. He’s also love a coupon to go to the park of his choice for a hike.

Tuck a coupon in your undies (while you are wearing them). Fun little extra discovery for future fun. =)

I’m thinking of putting one that says I’ll try out playing his computer game with him, or join him in one of his hobbies that I normally don’t. Also putting little barcodes on them that have cute messages underneath…just fun.

A coupon for upgrading a techie gadget of his choice. I could never purchase something like this for my husband. I wouldn’t get enough RAM, or it would forever be recalculating or something. He prefers to pick himself.

Or a coupon for a weapon. (Hubby is a cop.) Or one for going shooting at the range with me (and I’ll wear that skirt he likes. Or those shorts.)

Going without panties for a day. That’s always popular. *grin*

Coupon Ideas:
“Grouchy Day coupons” – we all have bad days, but as a spouse sometimes we don’t think we should have to deal with their “grouchyness” – this would entitle them to present it and for the other spouse or whomever you are giving it to, to let you know and it’s a way of asking for mercy and grace to bear with them. Could possibly package in Grinch or Scrooge paper/bag :)

“Dinner Choice” – coupons for getting to pick what you make or eat out for dinner.

“Date night Choice” – coupons that your husband gets to choose what to do and where to go on date night (allows it to be manly or silly, something HE wants to do)

The obvious “intimacy” coupons – can range from massage to choice of things in the bedroom – within reason and comfort of wife.

Coupons for “golf day”, night out with boys, etc.

Post each coupon activity on a card in a deck of cards. Allow your spouse to pull one card from the deck at random each week and you have to do the activity on the card within the week. This works really well since the number of cards= the number of weeks in the year.
