in the generous life

© Arne9001 | Dreamstime.comI read a lovely article by Susan at MomLifeToday.comFun in Marriage? (do take the time to read her post) and I couldn’t agree more.  We need laughter and fun in our marriage.

She suggests making a couple of dates on your calendar to do something fun with your sweetie.  The holiday season is full of stresses.  Laughter is just what you need.  Look for something fun like a comedy movie (if funds are tight watch a DVD at home (free at the library) instead of in the theaters).  Snuggle up in bed and read to each other (a funny book or comics from a newspaper).   Do something light-hearted like have a snowball fight (we just had first snow where I live).

My wife and I keep a notebook in the car. One of the on-going lists is of new restaurants to try. This way, any time we stumble across a place that we’d like to try we can write it down. Then when we’re looking for something to do and want to get out of the house, we can just pull out that notebook and find a new place to try together.

Lori, another great post! I love the picture of the couple playing in the snow! If you don’t have snow, you can create your own snowballs and have an indoor snowball fight. You can visit my site at http://justonemomtrying.blogspot.com to see a tutorial on making your own snowballs.

Redbox or similar options are great for a cheap movie night (rentals are $1-2/move/night). Find a comedy, pop some popcorn, grab a blanket, and snuggle on the couch together.

My hubby and I like to try new trails. We lace up our trail shoes, snowshoes, or x-country skis and are sure to bring along the stove for hot drinks and maybe lunch. And of course we we take time to snap fun photos of one another and our favorite companion, our black lab. She is usually the source of many laughs as she brings us sticks more appropriate to play fetch with Godzilla!
