A couple of months ago, my husband and I joined with some friends and explored how we each best approach and experience God. For some of us walking out in nature was the ticket. For others it was worshiping in a church gathering or spending quiet time alone in prayer or in the Word.
I think the concept that I walked away with was that these different approaches are not “better” or “worse.” They just reflect the diversity and uniqueness of God’s creation. It also helped me better understand my friends that do not experience God the way I do. My “do-er” friend is no less spiritual when she is having a great time with God serving those around her. I’m an “alone in prayer/study” kind of gal and, in the past, I’ve tended to worry about those who aren’t spending more time doing as I do. I’ve had to broaden my understanding of the ways in which we commune with God and make room for the wide variety of ways that God moves in and through us all.
How you do best experience God? How about your husband? I encourage y’all to build into your life those things that help you in your walk with Him. Join in those things that work for the both of you and respect/encourage each other where you have differences.
