I’ve been playing with paint swatches lately. I want to repaint the bathroom (it’s a lovely powder blue, but I’d like a more neutral color). I also want to replace the very out-of-date light fixture above the sink.
Today I got a call from my husband. Be outside in 20 seconds. A hardware store had put a number of items on sale. Paul knew enough to know that I was looking for a new light fixture and when he saw the sale, he quickly called, we ran for it and we bought a $100+ fixture for $20.
That was like a total win/win/win situation for me. Couple time. Thoughtfulness on the part of my sweetie. Great deal! (Did I mention it’s pretty?) :)
Do you know your spouse well enough to do something like that for them? A huge part of intimacy is knowing all the little details that make your spouse unique. What is their favorite style of music? How did they get that scar? What is their favorite childhood memory? What book made the greatest impact on their life? What are their fears? Hopes? Dreams?
If you don’t know these things and more, make it a habit to ask questions (any time that you are both not too busy is good, like when you’re traveling, sharing a meal or snuggled up in bed).
