What to Do With Conflict

October 5, 2011

in the generous life

I just read a very good book and I’d like to suggest it to y’all.

The Peacemaker by Ken Sande (aff link)

The book is about resolving conflict in a biblical way.  It’s not specifically a marriage book, but certainly the tools could be applied there as well.  I especially liked the stories and his general upbeat attitude over a very difficult subject (he sees facing and resolving conflict as a great opportunity to see the Gospel lived out in amazing ways).

This is not a fast read.  It’s one of those books where you have to read a few paragraphs and then chew on it for a while.  I’m going to reread it with my sweetie or a friend and spend time discussing it and looking for ways to apply it.  I think this is one of those books that I’m going to outline and keep handy.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.  Matthew 5:9  NIV

Resolving Conflict Every Day (aff link) – another book by Sande that is on my “to read” list. This one is more about living with folks in harmony on a day to day basis.

One of the best books I’ve read on conflict resolution. I recently completed an online masters degree in Conflict Resolution & Reconciliation from Abilene Christian University and this was a pivotal book in both my studies and personal convictions.
