Prepare for the Holidays NOW

in the generous life

© Iperl | Dreamstime.comYes, it’s time for my yearly nag about the holidays.

The holidays are supposed to bless you and your husband, not run you ragged.  Grab your husband, a pencil and pad and brainstorm about the coming holidays.  What has meaning to either of you?  What was special that you did last year (or as a kid) that you would like to do again this year?  What can you do without? (I’m talking about slimming down your holidays so that you have time for the really important stuff).  What do you think about gifts?  What is important to communicate to each other, to family and friends?

The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.  Hans Hofmann

Last year I got from a friend the idea to give three gifts for Christmas to represent the gifts of the wise-men. She tied each specifically to the gold, frankincense and myrrh. They were mind, body and spirit.
It has been the best thing for our Christmas, and we plan to make it a tradition.
It simplified and gave direction.
