Thoughtful Requests

in the generous life

My son recently asked for my help with a project … about 15 minutes after he needed the project done.  It’s not his usual MO (thankfully, he’s normally very thoughtful), so we all scrambled a bit to see if we could help, but the project proved to be too much to get done at all, much less in a timely way.  Turned out the event was canceled and my son didn’t need the item. [sigh] No harm done, except it did put our household in a bit of a tilt.

It got me to thinkin’ (always a dangerous thing).  Had I ever done that to my husband or family?  How timely am I in general or with projects?

Give your husband as much notice as you can when you know you are going to need his help.  Be understanding of his time use and commitments. It’s just the kind thing to do.

It is this kind of thing that causes arguments in my house. I ask him to do something at the time that I would like it done. However, when I am asking him to do it doesn’t always work for him. Even though it may my look to me like he isn’t doing anything, I should respect his time… even if it looks like he is wasting it.
