Serve Together

in the generous life

© Petar Neychev | Dreamstime.comMy husband and I do “clean up” after church most Sundays.  We pick up clipboards, wash out communion cups, help pack up, etc.  I’m not sure how we ended up doing that, but it’s become a nice way to serve as a couple.  It’s a generous thing and it emphasizes to us and others that we are a couple.  It’s all good.

I encourage y’all to look for ways to serve with your husband.  It doesn’t have to be at church (though it could be).  Why not help a neighbor together or take a class on CPR together.  There are so many ways to touch the world around us.  Find something and do it together.

I think togetherness is a very important ingredient to family life. It’s a cliche and we use it too much but I think for a husband and wife, the way to stay close is to do things together and share. Barbara Bush
