His Kind of Date

in the generous life

© Michaelmarks | Dreamstime.comWhat does your husband like to do?  Is there an event that caters to his interests?  Sounds like a date to me.

I’ve gone to landscape trade shows, (fairly bizarre) sci fi movies, and more.  I actually had a lot of fun.  I spent time with my sweetie (always good) and often I found things I enjoyed as well.  You just have to stretch a bit and open your mind to the possibility of new interests.  It also gives you more in common.  Common knowledge is one more level of intimacy.

This tip is so timely. Our wedding anniversary is coming up next month, and I am usually the one to initiate planning these occasions. After a couple of days searching for the perfect romantic weekend (romantic according to me: romantic hotel, candlelight dinner, jacuzzi tub for two, etc.) and sending the details to my husband (via email) he responded by saying “Nah, how about we camp at the gun club and shoot machine guns! Fun, fun, fun!!” (Shooting sports has become a new family hobby for our family with four sons.)

My first thought was how UNromantic (and possibly boring) that would be. But, I reminded myself that this marriage is not all about me and my desires. This would obviously be something he would enjoy doing. If he’s having fun, he will be happy.

I decided to choose to make the most out of this weekend and enjoy it with him. I decided to have a custom made sexy thigh band holster held up by a sexy garter belt made for my little handgun. I intend to surprise him with this “lingerie,” as well as give him a new knife, to add to the adventurous theme of the weekend.

My hubby and I both enjoy Jazz music, so we love to go to the Sydney Jazz festival in Darling Harbour – sadly it was a wash out this year, so we didn’t go. He is also just getting back into rock climbing, but watching a almost 4 year old and a 20 month old near a cliff face is a bit challenging… in time I will get back to it though! :) We like to have date nights at home when the kids are in bed – usually involves a movie, or board games. Double dates of that kind are fun too :)
