The other day I caught just a few expressions on my husband’s face that told me he was having a down day. I made plans to baby him, doing for him those things that I knew would encourage him and help him turn his day around. It really didn’t take that much time out of my day (and even if it would have, he’s worth it). Later we talked about it and the next day he was back to his usual self. Mission accomplished.
Sometimes in the busyness of life (and I do understand how busy that can be), we forget to truly look at and observe our husbands. We are so bound up in the troubles and stresses of our day that it’s hard to see when others are struggling. My best encouragement is to simplify your lives (so that you have the time and energy to be aware of others) and develop habits where you observe those in your life. What kind of mood does your husband have at the beginning of each day? Are there any scheduled events in the day? How will that effect your husband or family members? Observe your husband and family at the dinner table. Engage them in discussion. Stay in touch with the pulse of your household.
