Do What You Say

in the generous life

When someone doesn’t keep their word it hurts.  It generally costs us and makes life more difficult.  It’s easy to get upset when people fail, but the real kicker is whether or not you (and I) keep our word.  We can’t do much about others, but we can deal with ourselves and act in integrity toward others.

As a kindness to your husband, be careful about what you say you will do and, when you do commit to something, follow through in a timely fashion.  Your word should mean something and you want to be that someone who can be trusted and counted on.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve told my husband on more than occasion this is my biggest pet peeve. Not necessarily with him, but with people in general. I work with someone who is ALWAYS spouting out things she’s going to do and then she never follows through. So now when she talks, I tend to ignore her. Sadly, that’s what ends up happening. So guard your relationship and don’t make empty promises or plans.
