Get Healthy … Together

in the generous life

My husband and I sit at a desk most of the day and we both could stand to lose some weight.  We’ve been experimenting with our diet and exercise.  Even though we are handling it differently (we are very different people) it’s so nice to have someone to buddy up with.  The encouragement we give each other is priceless.

Is there something you can do to improve your diet and exercise regimen?  Serve healthier meals. Invite your husband to join you in a walk.  Find ways of encouraging each other to eat and live healthier.

I recommend eating the Eat Fat Lose Fat book by Mary Enig and browsing the Nourishing Traditions book by Sally Fallon. The EFLS book will change your way at looking at diets and fat. They have a complete program for losing weight and then for staying on track after. Very good scientific info on how bad low fat is for you.

One book that was recommended to me, and was definitely pivotal in me losing a lot of weight (I’ve been obese all my life) is “Eat to Live” by Dr. Joel Furhman. So excellent! Another one is “The China Study”, by T. Colin Campbell. Not only will you get to lose weight, but be healthy and prevent cancer as well! He was on the Dr. Oz show just the other day. :)

My husband and I were both dissatisfied with our figures, and limited in time and money. We both work and have two children (ages 4 and 2) and have realized that the excuses would continue to come. So, we decided that this should be the first time in our lives we would have six-packs!! He is about to be 36 and I am 30. We decided to get the “Insanity” workout that you can find on infomercials because you didn’t have to buy equipment, and it was masculine enough for him to want to do, unlike most workout videos. We are now in week 5 and have thoroughly enjoyed sharing a new interest, goal, and activity together. Not to mention bolstering our self esteem and sexual desires and stamina. It also helps having a partner pushing you to exercise even when it doesn’t sound fun or convenient.
