Speak Well of Your Spouse

in the generous life

My husband pointed to this blog post yesterday.  Go here.  Read and apply.  :)

Words so innocent and powerless as they are, standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.  Nathaniel Hawthorne

Pretty good stuff. I have always tried to not speak badly of my husband, but I don’t think I have sought to intentionally speak well of him. Put that on today’s agenda!

Thank you so much for that article.I have always made a point to never talk down about my husband to others or at him in public. God had brought to my attention after the past 5 months of a Love and Respect study we were doing at church, that I was doing it toward him at home and that is just as bad. I was so focused on not humiliating him in public that I was blinded to my disrespect to him in the home and in front of our toddlers. I have been trying for these last few months, that this has been revealed to me, not to talk down at him. This article is just a reminder to me. As though God is saying, “You will not correct this in a night, but day after day after day.”
