I Love You Because …

in the generous life

(I am a guest author this month at Transformed magazine, an encouraging resource for women.)

Grab a business card, sticky note or other small slip of paper and write, “I love you because …”  (of course, finish the sentence).  Leave it where your husband will find it.  One is good, more is better.  You could do a series of them for him to find.  Hide them around the bedroom or tuck one a day in his pocket or lunch bag.

I can live for two months on a good compliment.  Mark Twain

Two years ago I was having difficulty thinking of something to get my husband for his birthday. While listening to the radio, I heard the song “I Love the Way You Love Me”, by John Michael Montgomery. It rolled around in my head for a few days.I couldn’t get it out, so, I started thinking of the different ways he loves me. I ended up writing one for every year of his life. I framed it and gave it to him for his birthday. It brought him to tears(not an everyday occurence), and he said it’s the best present anyone ever gave him. It was especially moving for me as I had made some very damaging choices a year before and this was even more proof to me that the Lord had redeemed and was restoring our marriage.
