Turn About

March 6, 2011

in the generous life

Find a quiet spot (yes, I know that can be a challenge some days) and ask the Lord to show you places where you have wronged your husband, been thoughtless or where you could/should have done something differently. Ask forgiveness and find another moment to apologize to your husband.

It doesn’t stop there though, you know.  The next time you are faced with a similar situation, do the right thing.  Repentance has an element of “turning about and going the other way.”  Where you have lied, start telling the truth.  Where you have ignored his needs, start taking care of him.  Where you have talked disrespectfully or unkindly, start using a softer tongue and look for ways to bless him.

Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.  Paul Boese
