A Moment of Grace

in the generous life

*** 11 days until Valentine’s Day ***

When your husband does something that seems a bit rude, take a deep breath and offer him the benefit of the doubt.  It may be a misunderstanding or even a moment of carelessness on his part.  Either way grace and a bit of kindness will go a long way to diffusing the situation.

Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for a kindness.  Seneca

Yes! I frequently have opportunity to implement this, but usually forget until after the fact. Last night, Hubby arrived home from work grumpy. When nothing came out in his report of the day about what caused it, I decided to just leave him alone and not react – give him time to relax and eat dinner. He mellowed and cheered up as the evening went on and I was grateful for the reminder to extend grace to him!

Absolutely true! I can’t tell you the number of times that it turns out to be a misunderstanding. The difficult part is talking through it and keeping your cool long enough to get to the bottom of it. Easy 95-99% of our disagreements are caused by simple misunderstandings… and most of the time we’re actually saying the same thing, just in a different way.

Good tip!
