Praying the Scriptures

in the generous life

One way to pray for your husband is to “pray the Scriptures.”  As you are in the Word, take scriptures and personalize them to your husband.  You could even write those prayers out in your journal and as God answers those prayers, write it down.  This record can be a great encouragement on those days when everything seems to be going wrong.  He is faithful.

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:2  NIV

“Lord, I ask you to help my husband focus on heavenly things today.  As he goes through his day, help him to see the value of Your Kingdom and want to live radically for You.”

Thank you for this wonderful reminder! I am feeling very occupied with “other” things and so often even forget to pray for my hubby – so this will be helpful to pick a few scripture out and personalize them! THANKS!

I’ve been reading through the Bible chronologically. Sometimes there aren’t specific scriptures, but there are stories and characters that I use as prayer fodder. Just finished the part where Joseph cries with his brothers. Wish we all could have his attitude toward God’s plans in our lives. Lori <><
