Plan for the Holidays

September 20, 2010

in the generous life

It’s not too early to begin thinking about the Fall and Winter holidays. I encourage y’all to go simple and meaningful to your family. Does your husband love giving gifts? Do your kids like going for a drive to look at the Christmas lights? Perhaps some of your holiday time needs to be couple time, family time or big social time.  Be financially responsible (which probably means a gift list and sane purchase limits).

Think through each part of your holidays and plan for a sane amount of time and involvement.  Make room for those things that really are special to you and family members (and drop the rest).  Give your husband the gift of a happy, calm wife and a holiday season that is meaningful.

Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence.   Erma Bombeck
