What’s Up?

in the generous life

Seth Godin wrote an interesting blog post called Is Everything Perfect? It’s very business-y, but the concept carries over into marriage.  The gist of it is that if we continually ask ourselves what is wrong with our marriage, it will keep us focused on the problems.  Yes, we need to be aware of problems and deal with them, but a better focus most of the time is “What’s Up?” What is working in your marriage?  What are the highlights of the day?

Ask yourself these kinds of questions as you go through your day and then let your husband know your thoughts and how blessed you feel.

Highlighting what’s working helps you make that happen more often.  Seth Godin

I’ve been married only 3 weeks (and 2 days :), and I deeply appreciate your words of wisdom and ideas for being a generous wife. :) Something I started doing that goes along with today’s post is to journal something I appreciate about my husband–every day. And I write it letters that are twice the size of my other journal entries. All the good stuff I love about him boldly smiles at me each time I open my journal–and it keeps my heart focused, too. :) Thanks for your blog! :)
