Dad Reminder

in the generous life

Just a reminder that next Sunday is Father’s Day.  If you husband is a father look for simple ways of letting him know that he is appreciated (help your kids if they are too young to do something on their own). If your husband is not a father and this is a painful day for him because of fertility issues, or there are other painful associations for this day like the loss of his father (or painful issues with his father), then plan for something that will give him the space he needs.  Do what you can to soften the hardness of the day.

Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope.  Bill Cosby

Hello, I just have to pass on what I have done for my 79 year old Father for Father’s Day. I am 58 and live in a small town in South Georgia. I wrote a true story about my Family going to the Animal Shelter in the late 50’s. There was a car filled with crying children and a Mama and Daddy parked next to us. They couldn’t afford to bail their old dog out. My Daddy (school teacher) bit the bullet and paid the fine. It was a defining moment in my life. The lesson in compassion was beautiful. It will come out on Sunday and cost me nothing. I love my Father.
