Fill Your Buckets

in the generous life

My husband and I were bumming around in a pawn shop awhile back and I bought the movie The Bucket List.  The story line is about a couple of guys who are terminally ill.  One of them has a “bucket list,” a list of things he wants to do before he kicks the bucket.

I think this is such a cool idea.  How many times do we think, “I’d love to do that,” but we just set the idea down and go on with life.

My husband and I are trying to do differently.  We talk about our lists and then look for ways to help each other do those things (though my husband often does something really cool and then claims it’s on his bucket list, cheater). I encourage y’all to do likewise (not cheat, create a bucket list). It adds quite a bit of adventure to life and it’s very satisfying to be able to help your spouse chase a dream. It really speaks of love, the kind that comes with knowing them and their desires.

One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure.  William Feather

Haha — I have to admit that sometimes I do something cool and decide it’s a retroactive bucket list item, too. I actually started a similar list on my blog, but instead of a list of things to do in my lifetime, it’s a list of things to do in 1,001 days. It helps to have a little bit more pressure; I find more motivation to do things that way!

By the way, I love this blog! Such great little reminders and bits of encouragement. :)

My husband and I did this about a year ago for our monthly date night! We went to Starbucks had a coffee and wrote out/dreamed about our bucket lists! A very sweet night! AND we marked something off this February when we went to Vegas for the NASCAR race, yes a race was on his list. It was his “excuse” to take me to Vegas for my 40th!! :-)
