Help for the Gals Too

April 13, 2010

in the generous life

Last night’s tip offered some resources where guys and porn are concerned.  Several folks have commented that gals can have a problem with pornography as well.  One book that addresses this is No Stones.  There is also a ministry called Dirty Girls Ministries.  Don’t let the name put you off.  They have real ministry and a new bulletin board for discussion and encouragement.  And, again, if anyone knows of other women specific ministries, please leave a comment so that we can offer help to our sisters who are struggling with porn.

Be generous!  Lori <><

There is a ministry based in the Los Angeles, CA area called Treasures. It’s not for women who struggle with pornography, but it’s related — it’s a ministry for women who have been a part of the sex industry (strippers, porn stars, prostitutes, etc.). They have a beautiful ministry for these women. More information can be found here: http://www.iamatreasure.com/home.html

There is a ministry online at settingcaptivesfree.com. It is a ministry that deals with the issue of pornography as well as other sins such as eating disorders, cutting, homosexuality and also some bible study courses. There is also a course called United Front that is for the wives of men who are struggling with sexual sin to take. It is a very good ministry that offers help and true freedom through Christ. I personally know several people that have done the courses and have found freedom in Christ. My father is one of those people and is now a mentor with Setting Captives Free. It is not a 10 step program or anything like that but it is using the truths of the scripture to deal with your sin and replace it with Christ. Just thought I’d put that out there.

Every Woman’s Battle Revised Edition
by Shannon Ethridge. When does an affair begin? Not with the first forbidden touch…but with the first forbidden thought. Unexpectedly, you find yourself enjoying a powerful emotional bond with another man. You feel like you matter to someone again. And the door you thought was locked so firmly the door to sexual infidelity is suddenly ajar.
