It’s a Wonderful Life

in the generous life

My husband just had a birthday.  We really don’t do much in the way of gifts for birthdays (we have most everything we need).  Mostly we just do fun things together to celebrate.  However, the one thing my husband always does to celebrate is write these really cool letters of love and appreciation.  So, in honor of his birthday, I wrote him a letter and told him how much I appreciated him and what life would be like without him (for me and others).   Actually it was a scary list because there were things like marriages that wouldn’t have been saved, our son wouldn’t have been born (and he is a truly cool kid), and all the lack of his goodness in my life.  In a backhanded kind of way it reflected a pretty amazing list of fruit in his life.  I am glad he was born!

I think sometimes we don’t see the fruit of what God does through us.  It’s not a bad thing to be reminded that you are loved and used by God.  When you see God at work in your husband, be sure to encourage him and point it out (or perhaps write your own “It’s a Wonderful Life” letter).
