My husband and son worked their tails off today. They dug eight holes and put a shield of wire mesh in each hole (gopher deterrent). Tomorrow the fruit trees go in. About halfway through the day, while I was making egg salad for sandwiches, my husband suggested I bring a couple of sandwiches out for our son (19 years old and always hungry). When I brought them out, my son was deeply grateful. I think sometimes we forget what it is to be hungry (or any other kind of difficult feeling) and have someone bring us something that makes our situation better.
Keep an eye on your husband’s needs so that you can thoughtfully take care of him. Offer a snack or a hearty meal, a comfy blanket, a shoulder rub, or hug during a stressful time. The comfort of simple gestures is deeply warming.
